Brotherly Love

Karen and I used to say when our boys were itty bitty babies that they would grow to become bestest of friends. Now it cracks us up how much Oscar and Noah love each other.

They see each other every morning and during recess at school, yet they still can't wait to play again after school. I can't even drive by Noah's house without Oscar crying to get out of the car and "play with Nena"--that's how it sounds when Oscar says it.

Karen and I were pleased to learn the boys will be in the same classroom when they move up to the 2-year old room next month. Where does the time go?

Oscar recently discovered baseball caps and he likes wearing them. I have to wonder if it's because his daddy wears one in the car every day. The hat below is from his Aunt Sara and Uncle Tim--and the shirt is from his Grandma Kathy.

Here he is wearing one of David's driving hats.
Now, Oscar wears Daddy's driving hat on the way to school.

Oscar enjoys his numbers. He can count to 10 with little or no help. David's working on getting him to count to 20. I don't have any good videos of Oscar counting, but here's a video of Oscar playing with the number 8.

When Oscar's not running around the house, or playing outside, he's watching Sesame Street.
Here he is leaning over the couch (and peeking over Otto) while watching Elmo. In case you're wondering, Otto is laying in his bounce seat with part of the Baby Bjorn carrier around him. He was sleeping so soundly, David didn't want to wake him. So, he just unsnapped the Bjorn and laid Otto down in his chair.

Daddy taught Oscar about smoke on the 4th of July. Now, whenever Oscar sees smoke, he makes a crackling noise to simulate what fireworks sound like.
A couple of years ago, I splurged on a pair of lime green patent leather Franco Sarto loafers.
They're not the kind of shoes you can wear every day. Unless you're Oscar. David jokes he's worn them more than I have. I don't know what it is about these shoes, but Oscar goes right for them whenever he explores in our closet.
Otto has had several major milestones lately. He can now reach for toys and put them in his mouth. Here he is with one of Oscar's old O-Balls. Oscar loved playing with this as a baby. Actually, Oscar still loves it and tries to take it back from Otto regularly. Before anyone thinks we're being cruel, you should know that Oscar has 2 other O-Balls and needs to get used to sharing his toys. Also, right after Oscar tries to take the ball away from Otto, he immediately comes back with a peace offering for his baby bro. For example, today, it was a handful of raisins.

Another Otto milestone--his adorable first laughs. Here he is laughing with Daddy.

And last but not least, Otto rolled from tummy to back today for the first time! It was hard work for him, but as you can see, he's a very determined little guy. Enjoy!
