These are a Few of Our Favorite Things...

The theme of this week's blog post is Oscar's Favorite Things.
We'll start with standing up without using his hands and without any help
from his parents or teachers. He makes the funniest expressions just before he falls.
(See for yourself).

Oscar's favorite vegetable is lima beans. I'm embarrassed to say that I'd never had plain (not mixed into a soup or stew) lima beans until this week. Turns out I really like them, too--and David's always been a fan of the lima bean--who knew?
Oscar's teachers have been telling me how much Oscar enjoys the lima beans off the school lunch menu. So, we decided to try serving them at home this weekend, just to see how he would react to them...
Climbing the couch. Oscar is a rough and tumble little boy. To tire him out, we let him climb up
and down the sofa and the living room furniture. He can't get enough of it. He's been doing these funny movements with his tongue lately. We think it has something to do with his two front teeth, which are starting to poke through.
Okay, I had to include Oscar's least favorite thing-getting his nails clipped.
Maybe he gets this from me. For me, I can't stand the sound clippers make. I think Oscar
can't stand having to sit still. (Okay, he definitely gets THAT from me).

Running with Daddy. Oscar's a little bit of a thrill seeker.

The Outdoors. Being outside is part of our daily routine. It's the most favorite part of my day.

Touch-and-Feel Books. These are by far, Oscar's favorite books. I bought them
at a garage sale and they're so big Oscar loves to lay on them as he looks at the pictures, and explores the textures. In the video below Oscar's a little upset because we won't let him chew on
grass, instead, we let him chew on his book.

Here are Oscar's teachers' notes from this week:
Monday: Oscar had a good day! Today we played with the stacking rings and locking beads. We sang "Old Mc Donald" and "Bingo." Did you look at Oscar's teeth? They are cutting through! (upper) =)
Tuesday: Oscar had a good day! We played "Where is Oscar?" You're right-He loves it! It was so funny =) We sang the bumblebee song and our ABC-s.
Wednesday: Oscar had a great day. He has been loving playing with Hadley lately. Of course, he has been standing a lot by himself and playing with toys while he's standing. We read Oscar's favorite today: "Bloodhound Ben," and " Downtown Lost and Found." He enjoyed the books. He ate all of his lunch for me =)
Thursday: Oscar had a good day. He is side stepping! He is doing great while holding on to the toy shelves. Today we sang "5 Little Monkeys" and we read "A Nose Like a Hose." Oscar loves those monkeys jumping on the bed!! =)
Friday: Oscar had a good day. Today he was so cute. He put himself in the bouncy chair! We took pictures because he was so proud of himself. He had the biggest smile about it. He and Christalyn played lots. They were crawling all over each other an laughing at each other. He just had a cute day.
